PARTLY
Partly true: most of these '20 free tools to start a business' really have free tiers, but several free plans are tightly capped or take a cut, and the logo maker charges about $40 to download
The claim'20 FREE TOOLS TO START A BUSINESS. SAVE THIS.' Brand: Instagram. Design: Canva. Website: Wegic.ai. Email marketing: Beehiiv. Content writer: ChatGPT. Go viral: ViralityAI. Store: Gumroad. Invoicing: Wave. Project management: Trello. Automation: Make. Accounting: GnuCash. CRM: HubSpot CRM. Time tracking: Toggl. File storage: Google Drive. Workspace: Notion. Surveys: Google Forms. Logo: LogoMaker. Blog: Medium. Presentation: Magicslides. Analytics: NotJustAnalytics. Each line ends 'is free'.
This is the same card we graded partly in August 2026, now reposted by a different page, and the verdict holds. Most of the twenty are real tools with usable free tiers: Canva, Beehiiv, ChatGPT, Wave invoicing, Trello, Toggl, Google Drive and Forms, Notion, Medium and HubSpot's free CRM, and GnuCash is fully open source. The word 'free' carries the asterisks. Make's free plan is 1,000 credits a month per its own pricing page, enough for testing, not for running a business on. Gumroad has no monthly fee but third-party breakdowns consistently put its cut at 10% plus 50 cents per direct sale, before card fees, and 30% on marketplace sales. LogoMaker lets you design free but reviews list a one-time download fee of roughly $40 to $49. Wegic's free tier is credit-limited and paid plans start around $12 a month on review sites. NotJustAnalytics is an Instagram analytics tool whose site says 'try it free' but routes pricing to paid plans. A few picks, Wegic, ViralityAI and NotJustAnalytics, are lesser-known choices over better-known free options, which suggests partnership or affiliate picks, though we found no proof either way. The card itself sells nothing beyond follows for the creator credited on it.
What holds up
- Contact sheet read; static card, no audio; all 20 lines transcribed; credits another creator's handle.
- Make's pricing page confirms 1,000 free credits a month.
- Gumroad fee breakdowns from several 2026 sources agree on 10% plus $0.50 per direct sale and 30% on Discover.
- LogoMaker review listings put the download fee at about $40 to $49; Wegic paid tiers from about $11.90 a month on Capterra.
- Same list as the Aug 17, 2026 '20 free tools to start a business' entry, also graded partly.
What doesn’t
- 'Free' hides caps (Make, Wegic) and per-sale cuts (Gumroad).
- LogoMaker charges to download the logo you design free.
- Several obscure picks over better-known free options; possible affiliate choices, unproven.
- Repost of an existing list card for follows.
The catch
You can start lean on free tools, but the free tiers come with limits: capped credits, per-sale fees and paid downloads show up right when the business starts working.
How to actually do it
- Keep the genuinely free core: Google Drive and Forms, Canva, Wave invoicing, HubSpot free CRM, Trello or Notion.
- Before committing to Gumroad, compare its 10% plus 50 cents per sale with a flat-fee option once you are making regular sales.
- For a logo, use a maker that includes free downloads or design one in Canva rather than paying a download fee.
- Check each tool's own pricing page for the free-tier limit before building a workflow on it.
A mostly accurate starter list that was already audited once and is still making the rounds. Read every 'is free' as 'has a free tier' and check the limits.
