PARTLY

Partly true: building a RAG system, an agent, an LLMOps layer, evals, a fine-tuning pipeline and guardrails are genuinely good portfolio projects for an AI engineer, but the reel is a comment-for-link funnel, not the build itself

Facebook · Oct 2026

The claimSix AI-engineer skills, six projects: RAG (hybrid search over internal docs with reranking and citations), Agents (orchestration with tools, memory, human-in-the-loop), LLMOps (a semantic caching layer that cuts your API bill in half), Evals (a generator that builds test sets from production logs), Fine-tuning (a LoRA pipeline), Guardrails. Comment 'Skill Projects' for the link to build all six plus 20 more.

As a list of what an AI engineer should be able to build, this is legitimate and well chosen. RAG with reranking and citations, an agent with tools and memory and a human in the loop, an eval harness built from real logs, a LoRA fine-tuning pipeline and guardrails are all real, in-demand skills, and building each as a small project is exactly how people learn them. The one specific number, 'semantic caching that cuts your API bill in half,' is plausible for workloads with lots of repeated or similar queries but is not a guarantee; savings depend entirely on how much your traffic repeats, and can be far less. The catch is that the reel does not actually teach any of it; it lists six good project ideas and then asks you to comment for a link, which routes you into a follower funnel and, usually, further offers. The ideas are free to act on today without commenting; the value is in doing them, not in the DM.

What holds up

  • Reel transcribed in full and caption read.
  • Each of the six projects checked against standard AI-engineering skill maps; all are real, relevant skills.
  • Confirmed semantic caching can cut cost but 'half' depends on query-repetition, not a fixed figure.

What doesn’t

  • 'Cuts your API bill in half' is workload-dependent, not guaranteed.
  • The reel lists projects but teaches none.
  • Comment-for-link funnel with a '20 more' upsell.

The catch

The six projects are a genuinely good learning path. The reel sells the list, not the build.

How to actually do it

  • Pick one project, RAG or an agent, and build a tiny version this week.
  • Measure your own cache hit rate before believing any 'half your bill' claim.
  • Use free public tutorials for each; you do not need the comment link to start.

A sound AI-engineer project list wrapped in a comment funnel.
