PARTLY "Claude can build this, but it's never gonna design this" — a fair point wearing an unfair word: 'never' Facebook · Aug 12, 2026

The claimOn-screen "This is the fastest way to rank higher on Google," caption "You're welcome!" The mechanism, drawn out in the comments, is to run a Google search operator - site:yourdomain.com "keyword" - to find your own pages that already contain a keyword, then add internal links from those pages to the page you want to rank. Commenters: "It's all about the colon," "It's not the pages that rank for the keyword, it's the pages that contain the word," "He is talking about Internal Linking." The tactic is legitimate and straight out of Google's own guidance. Google Search Central says every important page should be reachable by at least one internal link with descriptive anchor text, and John Mueller called internal linking "super critical for SEO... one of the biggest things you can do on a website" (widely reported, Mar 2022). Two caveats make it "partly." First, "fastest way to rank higher" oversells timing: Google's own SEO documentation says changes can take "a few hours" to "several months" and advises waiting a few weeks to judge impact - internal links help crawling and relevance but aren't an instant lever. Second, the site: operator is a discovery trick, not a source of truth: Google explicitly documents that site: "doesn't necessarily return all the URLs that are indexed" and points users to Search Console's URL Inspection instead. HeyTony is a real, verifiable agency (heytony.ca) in Hamilton, Ontario, founded by Matt Diamante, roughly 20 staff, author of the SEO book "Get Found"; the reel is genuine advice that also feeds a funnel toward the paid "HeyTony Insiders" community at $97/month.

What holds up

  • Google Search Central confirms internal linking and descriptive anchor text as core practice, and Mueller's "super critical for SEO" quote is well documented
  • The site: + keyword method to surface your own topical pages is a normal, white-hat way to find internal-link opportunities
  • HeyTony is a real Hamilton, Ontario agency (verified on heytony.ca and third-party coverage); founder Matt Diamante, book "Get Found"

What doesn't

  • 'Never' is unsupportable — current Claude produces coherent, sometimes distinctive visual design today; the gap is context, not capability
  • The slick site used to 'prove' human superiority is exactly what AI produces unassisted — and viewers can't verify it wasn't AI-assisted
  • Soft self-interest: it's authority content from a designer whose livelihood the claim defends
  • The build-vs-design binary is already stale — the real 2026 split is AI defaults vs human-directed AI output, and the winners use both

The catch

It's real, standard SEO wrapped in a "fastest" promise it can't keep, and the site: operator won't even show all your pages. Treat it as one useful habit, not a shortcut - and note the free tip leads toward a paid community.

How to actually do it

  • Do the pass: find your pages that mention the target keyword, then link them to the page you want to rank using clear, descriptive anchor text
  • Check what's actually indexed with Search Console's URL Inspection and Pages report rather than relying on the site: operator
  • Give it a few weeks and measure in Search Console - don't expect an overnight jump from internal links alone

Add the internal links and verify indexing in Search Console; it's a real habit, just not an instant ranking switch.
