There’s almost nothing to debunk here, which earns it a real — real-but-empty. The products in the ranking exist, and the one shown going on the board first is legitimately enormous: Lovable, the Stockholm AI site builder, raised $400M at a $13.3B valuation in August 2026 with ARR approaching $600M, after the fastest $1M-to-$100M ARR run in software history. A tier list is opinion; rankings in this genre are usually engagement bait rather than hands-on testing, and this one’s near-zero engagement suggests even the bait didn’t bite. The only honest caution: nobody’s S-tier placement should choose your stack.
What holds up
- Lovable is real and huge: $400M raised at a $13.3B valuation (Aug 2026), ARR near $600M, 100K+ new projects daily
- The category leaders in both genres (site builders, video generators) are real shipping products
- A ranking makes no factual claim beyond ‘these exist’ — and they do
What doesn't
- 'Never' is unsupportable — current Claude produces coherent, sometimes distinctive visual design today; the gap is context, not capability
- The slick site used to 'prove' human superiority is exactly what AI produces unassisted — and viewers can't verify it wasn't AI-assisted
- Soft self-interest: it's authority content from a designer whose livelihood the claim defends
- The build-vs-design binary is already stale — the real 2026 split is AI defaults vs human-directed AI output, and the winners use both
The catch
Nothing false — just nothing load-bearing. A tier list can’t pick your tools; an hour of your own testing can.
How to actually do it
- Try the free tier of one builder (Lovable, Bolt, or v0) on a real project for an hour — your result beats anyone’s tier list
- Judge AI builders on the boring criteria: export/ownership of code, hosting costs, and what happens after the first generation
- Save your ‘save these for later’ energy — tools you don’t use this week are tools you don’t use
Real products, opinion ranking — the shown leader really is a $13.3B company; the list itself carries no claim worth grading.
