PARTLY “No more cold outreach” — a LinkedIn intent-scraper’s own ad oversells its net
The claimTraxy catches likes and comments across all of LinkedIn, scores them against your ICP, and delivers a daily lead list with email and phone. “No more cold outreach. This is warm outreach at scale.” 7-day free trial, first 500 leads free.
The product is real and the technique underneath it is legitimate: Traxy is a shipping SaaS (G2 profile, docs, HeyReach/HubSpot/Slack integrations) that monitors LinkedIn engagement and flags ICP-matching engagers, and reaching people who are active on the platform genuinely beats cold lists. Three claims in the ad don't survive contact with the vendor's own docs. It doesn't watch “all of LinkedIn” — it monitors the specific profiles and posts you add (yours, competitors, influencers) plus an hourly agent scan. “Email and phone” come from credit-gated third-party enrichment, which never hits 100% — phone especially. And a like on a post is weak intent: the person never asked to hear from you, so the outreach is still cold contact in every legal and practical sense, with GDPR exposure on European leads. Real tool, real category, inflated coverage, and a compliance ceiling the ad never mentions.
What holds up
- Traxy is a real, shipping SaaS — G2 reviews, public docs, free tier, HeyReach + HubSpot/Slack integrations
- Engagement-based targeting is a legitimate technique — active engagers accept and reply at higher rates than cold lists
- Competitor-audience monitoring (their core feature) works and is widely used in B2B outbound
What doesn't
- “Across all of LinkedIn” oversells — it monitors profiles and posts you choose to track, not the platform
- Email and phone come from credit-gated enrichment — match rates never hit 100%, phone far less
- A like is weak intent — “already want what they sell” is a stretch
- “Warm outreach” is still legally cold contact — nobody opted in; GDPR exposure on EU leads
- Ad promises “first 500 leads free”; the vendor's own blog pegs the free tier at 200 credits/month — verify at signup
- Scale-harvesting LinkedIn engagement data conflicts with LinkedIn's user agreement — account-restriction and vendor-shutdown risk
The catch
This is the vendor advertising itself, and Traxy pays a 20% lifetime commission to affiliates — so most glowing third-party takes you'll see are paid. The bigger omission: the entire category runs on harvesting LinkedIn data, which LinkedIn's terms prohibit and LinkedIn actively fights. A tool like this can be genuinely useful and still vanish overnight — or take your account's standing with it.
How to actually do it
- Sign up at traxy.ai on the free tier — no card; confirm what “free” actually includes at signup (ad says 500 leads, blog says 200 credits/mo)
- Add 4–5 monitored profiles: 2 influencers your ideal buyers follow, 2 competitor firms, 1 of your own
- Set ICP filters to your real qualifying bar (company size, industry, geography) — not the defaults
- Run 14 days; score every surfaced lead against your qualifying filter BEFORE spending enrichment credits
- Enrich only leads that pass; track enrichment hit rate (email found / phone found) in a sheet
- Kill criteria: fewer than 5 genuinely qualified leads in 14 days, or enrichment hit rate under 50% — walk away
- If it passes: price the paid tier against the value of one closed engagement before committing — plans default to annual billing (monthly runs ~20% more)
- Compliance guardrail: treat every contact as cold for outreach purposes — reference the engagement naturally, never “I saw you liked X” (that reads as surveillance and admits scraping)
Worth a controlled 14-day test on the free tier for our own prospecting — same protocol as prior tool tests, with hard kill criteria so a mediocre result doesn't linger.
