PARTLY "Claude can build this, but it's never gonna design this" — a fair point wearing an unfair word: 'never'
The claimCaption: "shoutout zuckerberg for this one doe #krea #hustling #meta #sidehustle". On-screen: "Day 2 of trying RANDOM side hustles" (randomizer lands on META ADS), "15 minutes for research", "click on Connectors", "copy this link" (Meta Ads MCP Server doc, mcp.facebook.com/ads), "now use the Krea MCP", "enter your product", a 20-image brand-campaign prompt for a CPG sunscreen, "fund your campaign", "comment 'Krea' ... you the link". 5.2K likes, 332 comments, 668 shares; posted Sep 2 2026.
The two tools shown are real and cost nothing to wire up. Meta's developer docs (Ads MCP Server, updated Jul 14 2026) describe a Meta-hosted MCP server at https://mcp.facebook.com/ads that creates and edits campaigns, ad sets and ads, pulls reporting, manages catalogs and runs A/B tests; it authenticates through Facebook Login for Business with ads_management and related permissions, and the endpoint answered a live JSON-RPC probe on Sep 2. Krea's MCP page (published Jul 20 2026) gives https://api.krea.ai/mcp, no API key, sign in with a Krea account, works with Claude, Codex, Cursor. Anthropic's help center allows one custom connector on the Free plan. What the reel omits is everything that costs or makes money. Krea's free tier is a daily compute allowance and its FAQ lists the commercial license only on paid plans (Basic $9/mo for 5,000 units, Pro $35 for 20,000, Max from $70), so ad images made on Free are not licensed for ads. The campaign is for a sunscreen that does not exist, so no product, margin or revenue is shown; Shopify's Nov 2025 benchmarks put Meta ads at about $0.87 per click and $18.75 per lead. No Krea affiliate program was found (krea.ai/affiliate 404), so the poster's payoff is the comment-to-DM funnel, which Meta's help page defines as comment baiting and says receives less distribution.
What holds up
- Meta Ads MCP Server is real: developers.facebook.com doc (Updated Jul 14 2026) lists the remote server at https://mcp.facebook.com/ads, seven tool categories including ad creation and reporting, OAuth via Facebook Login for Business with ads_mcp_management, ads_read, ads_management permissions; the endpoint returned a Meta-served JSON-RPC 405 on a GET probe Sep 2 2026.
- Krea MCP is real: krea.ai/mcp (published 2026-07-20, modified 2026-08-13) gives https://api.krea.ai/mcp, no API key, Krea-account sign-in, listed clients Claude, Codex, OpenClaw, Cursor; Krea's ecommerce page sells AI product photography and ad creatives, which is what the prompt asks for.
- Claude custom connectors work on the Free plan: support.claude.com says remote-MCP custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise, with Free users limited to one custom connector; claude.com/pricing lists connectors with remote MCP under Free.
What doesn't
- 'Never' is unsupportable — current Claude produces coherent, sometimes distinctive visual design today; the gap is context, not capability
- The slick site used to 'prove' human superiority is exactly what AI produces unassisted — and viewers can't verify it wasn't AI-assisted
- Soft self-interest: it's authority content from a designer whose livelihood the claim defends
- The build-vs-design binary is already stale — the real 2026 split is AI defaults vs human-directed AI output, and the winners use both
The catch
Connecting Meta's ad tools and Krea to Claude takes ten minutes and is free, and that is the whole demonstration. The money part, a product people want, a landing page, a budget and a margin, is replaced by an AI-drawn sunscreen and the word 'fund'. Meta's Ads MCP will happily spend a real card on a campaign for a product that cannot ship.
How to actually do it
- If you already run Meta ads for a real product, try Meta's Ads MCP for reporting first: connect it to Claude (Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http --client-id <META_APP_ID> meta-ads https://mcp.facebook.com/ads, or a custom connector in claude.ai) and ask it to summarize your top-spending campaigns over 30 days before you let it create anything.
- If you want AI product photos for ads, budget for Krea Pro ($35/mo, 20,000 compute units, commercial license) or a similar paid tier, keep one real photo of the real product as the reference, and check any regulated claims (sunscreen is an OTC drug in the US) with the product owner before the image goes in an ad.
- Test ad creative with a fixed cap: Meta's minimum is $1 to $5 per day; run two or three Krea variants against your existing best ad for a week and keep the one with the lower cost per lead, rather than funding a campaign because a reel said to.
Tools verified real and free to connect; the business case is empty, so the value is a Meta-ads reporting and creative-testing workflow for owners who already advertise.
