PARTLY Partly true: HeyTony's '$40k in free traffic from Google' is a tool's ad-equivalent estimate, not money, on a question-answering recipe that funnels into his $97/month membership
The claim23-second reel, caption '$40k in free traffic from Google (every month)' over a Semrush-style organic chart reading '14.9K, +1,388%' and a note: "Find a question (FindQuestions.com). Answer it using ChatGPT, prompt in the comments. Edit + add images. 3 internal links. Post it." Spoken line: "It's crazy how easy this is." Sep 5, 2026.
The recipe is ordinary, legitimate SEO: find a real question your customers ask, answer it properly on your own site, add images, link it internally. What the reel sells on top of that is a number that is not money. '$40k' matches the 'traffic cost' style metric SEO tools print next to an organic-traffic estimate: what that traffic would cost to buy as Google Ads. Semrush states its traffic figures are accumulated and approximated from clickstream panels, not measured from the site. So the screenshot shows an estimate of an estimate; nobody's bank account moved $40,000. The funnel is the second half: FindQuestions.com is HeyTony's own tool. It surfaces Reddit questions by business type, gives a free preview, and upsells 'HeyTony Insiders' at $97 a month, and its own disclaimer says results are not guaranteed to drive traffic or rankings. The risk the reel never mentions: Google's spam policy bans 'scaled content abuse', which it defines as using generative AI to produce many pages without adding value, and its March 5, 2024 core update specifically went after pages that claim to answer popular queries but deliver minimal value, reporting 45 percent less low-quality content in results by that April. AI-assisted pages are allowed when they are people-first and original. Done carefully, two to four real question pages a month is good practice; done as a volume play, it is the exact thing Google is filtering out.
What holds up
- FindQuestions.com (fetched Sep 5 2026): a Reddit-question finder by business type, free preview, upsell to 'HeyTony Insiders'; disclaimer: results 'are not guaranteed to drive traffic or rankings.'
- heytony.ca/insiders: membership $97/month; heytony.ca identifies Matt Diamante, an SEO agency owner in Hamilton, Ontario, as the presenter.
- Semrush knowledge base (Traffic Analytics overview): traffic data is 'accumulated and approximated' from clickstream sources, not site-measured. Semrush's 'Traffic Cost' definition page returned 404 on Sep 5 2026, so the $40k = traffic-cost reading is inferred from the on-screen chart, not confirmed.
- Google Search spam policies: 'Scaled content abuse' covers 'using generative AI tools... to generate many pages without adding value for users.'
- Google, Mar 5 2024 core update announcement: targeted pages 'that claim to answer popular queries but deliver minimal value'; reported 45% less low-quality content in results by April 2024.
- Google 'Creating helpful content': automation including AI-generation 'for the primary purpose of manipulating search rankings' is a violation; people-first, original content with clear authorship is fine.
What doesn’t
- '$40k' is an ad-equivalent estimate printed by an SEO tool, not revenue, not even measured traffic.
- The 'free' tool in the recipe is the presenter's own product with a $97/month membership behind it.
- The recipe done at volume is the definition of the content Google's 2024 update and current spam policy demote.
The catch
The method is real and cheap; the number is a screenshot. Do it by hand for the questions your own customers ask, put your name and your town on the page, and measure calls and form fills in Search Console and GA4 rather than a tool's dollar estimate.
How to actually do it
- Collect ten questions your customers actually ask (from your phone log, reviews, or Reddit for your trade) and write one page a week answering each with local specifics, your own photos, and your name on it.
- Link each answer page from the relevant service page and back, so the three-internal-links tip actually does something.
- Skip the $97 membership; Google's free 'People also ask' box, AlsoAsked-style tools, and your own reviews give the same questions.
- Judge results in Google Search Console (impressions and clicks per page) and by calls booked, never by an SEO tool's 'traffic value'.
Two to four honest question pages a month is the version of this that works for a local business; the $40k belongs to the tool that printed it.
