It rides the Nov 21, 2025 Google Cloud blog post "Building with Gemini in the newest Vertex AI Studio," which introduced the /prompt, /evaluate and /build agents, Get Code, and login-free Express mode on Gemini 3. The catch

The video is real and fast, but 'minutes' buys you a prompt that pulls three numbers from one PDF in a 90-day sandbox. Anything a finance team would sign off on (grounding, citations, connectors, auth, evals, cost control) is the part nobody built in the video.

How to actually do it

  • Watch the actual 10-minute Google video before believing any summary of it; note it extracts three fields, it does not answer questions across a library of reports
  • If you want to try it, use Express mode on a non-sensitive sample PDF and set a calendar reminder for the 90-day cutoff; do not upload real financials to a preview sandbox
  • For any real use, require the tool to cite the page it pulled each number from and have a human re-check every figure and every calculated ratio
  • Budget before you build: a Gemini 3 Flash pipeline is cheap per document, but connectors, auth, evaluation and a developer's time are the real cost; get a scoped quote

A ten-minute Google demo proves Vertex AI Studio is quick to prototype in; it does not prove a finance team can replace a custom system without the usual engineering.
