The three repositories we could read on the slides are real, large and active: botpress/botpress (about 14.9k stars, MIT), CapSoftware/Cap (about 22.2k stars) and onlook-dev/onlook (about 26.7k stars, Apache-2.0), each described accurately at the one-line level. Nothing is sold and nothing is exaggerated beyond the title's 'shouldn't be free', which is a compliment rather than a claim. Two caveats keep this from being a clean five for five.   • Botpress is also a hosted commercial platform with paid tiers; the repository is the open-source SDK, CLI and integrations layer.
  • Caption pulled via TikTok oEmbed; no product, course or comment-keyword funnel.

  • 'Free' for Botpress means the open-source SDK; the hosted platform it targets has paid plans.

The catch

Three real, well-maintained projects, described accurately. Before you build on any 'free' repo commercially, open its LICENSE file: for Botpress the platform is the paid part, and Cap's licence is not the standard permissive kind.

How to actually do it

  • Onlook is the one to try first if you build in Next.js and Tailwind; it is Apache-licensed and the visual-edit workflow is what the slide says.
  • For screen recording, Cap self-hosted is a genuine Loom alternative; read its licence before deploying it for a team.
  • Treat Botpress's repo as the free layer of a paid platform; the cost shows up when you deploy bots on Botpress Cloud.
  • Star counts change weekly; the projects' activity (all pushed within days of this check) matters more than the number.

The verifiable repos (Botpress, Cap, Onlook) are real, active and accurately described, with licence and hosted-platform caveats the post skips. One tool slide could not be read.
