PARTLY
Partly true: the 'upscale any blurry image or video to 4K for free' demo is a real open-weights ComfyUI workflow on one still frame; it needs a serious GPU, invents detail rather than recovering it, and shows no video at all
The claim'You can upscale any blur low resolution image/video to 4k for free, link in bio.' On-screen text 'next level AI upscale' over a screen recording: a 480x583 crop of a movie still is pulled from a Chinese video site into ComfyUI, run through a workflow tagged 'NO8D-AI-Workshop' and 'Krea2Edit' with a 'Slider-LORA for Klein' tab open, and a before/after slider zooms into eyes, ear, skin and teeth at up to 1000%.
The pieces on screen are real and free to download. Krea 2 is an open-weights image model released in June 2026 (Comfy-Org's Krea-2 repack on Hugging Face has about 9.8 million downloads); 'Krea2Edit' is lbouaraba/comfyui-krea2edit, a ComfyUI node pack and identity-preserving edit LoRA for Krea 2 with about 680 GitHub stars; NO8D is no8d/ComfyUI-NO8D-controls, a custom node set; and 'Klein' is Black Forest Labs' FLUX.2 Klein family. So yes, you can build this pipeline for $0 in software. Three things the caption skips. First, the demo is one 480x583 still, not video; nothing in the reel upscales a clip, and video through a diffusion model is a different, much slower job. Second, 'free' assumes a GPU with enough VRAM to hold Krea 2 and its VAE; the krea2edit README has a whole section on VRAM offloading, and people without that hardware end up renting cloud GPUs or paying a hosted service. Third, what the slider shows is generation, not restoration. The model draws plausible pores, iris texture and teeth; it does not know what the original face looked like, which is fine for a wallpaper and wrong for evidence, medical or ID use. The link in bio is unverified; this page reposts other people's workflows, so expect an affiliate or a Chinese workflow-sharing site rather than a one-click tool.
What holds up
- Reel read frame by frame: source is a 480x583 crop from a Chinese video page; ComfyUI tabs read 'NO8D-controls', 'Slider-LORA for Klein', 'highquality'; a 'NO8D-AI-Workshop / Krea2Edit' title card; output compare shows A 944x1104 vs B 3776 wide; zooms at 233% to 1000% on eye, ear, skin and teeth. No video clip is processed.
- Hugging Face API, Oct 2, 2026: krea/Krea-2-Turbo and krea/Krea-2-Raw created Jun 18, 2026; Comfy-Org/Krea-2 at ~9.8M downloads; black-forest-labs/FLUX.2-klein-4B and -9B listed (Klein is real).
- GitHub: lbouaraba/comfyui-krea2edit (678 stars) 'Instruction-based, identity-preserving image editing for Krea 2 in ComfyUI'; README requires a ComfyUI with native Krea 2 support plus the Krea 2 model and has a 'Pixel path and VRAM' section; license is the Krea 2 Community License. no8d/ComfyUI-NO8D-controls (297 stars) exists.
- Could not open the poster's link in bio; the page's transcript is 33 characters of music lyric, so the whole claim lives in the caption and on-screen text.
What doesn’t
- 'Image/video' is shown on one still image; no video upscaling appears.
- 'Free' omits the GPU: this is a local diffusion pipeline, not a web button.
- Upscaled detail is generated, not recovered; the before/after slider is persuasive but not evidence of restoration.
- Repost page with a link-in-bio hook; the actual destination is unverified.
The catch
Open-weights image models and ComfyUI really do produce 4K-looking faces from small crops for free if you own a capable GPU and are willing to assemble a node graph. Treat the result as a redraw: great for social, print and nostalgia, useless where the detail has to be true, and expect video to need a different toolchain and far more time.
How to actually do it
- If you want this for stills and have an NVIDIA card with plenty of VRAM, install ComfyUI, pull the Krea 2 model from Comfy-Org on Hugging Face and the comfyui-krea2edit nodes from GitHub; follow the README's VRAM notes.
- No GPU? Use a hosted upscaler with a free tier or per-image credits instead of chasing the bio link; price it per image before you commit.
- Never use generated upscales for anything where accuracy matters (legal, medical, identification); the model is guessing the detail.
The workflow and models in the clip are real, open and free to download, which is why the demo looks good. The caption oversells it as a video tool, hides the hardware requirement, and the mystery link cannot be checked, so the honest grade is partly true with medium confidence.
