PARTLY
Partly true: the '40 websites every video editor needs' screenshot list is about half right; four of the LUT domains do not exist and six of the 'sound effects' sites are not sound effects sites
The claim'You're not a bad video editor, just follow and screenshot.' Four gold cards list 'Top 10 websites' each for stock footage (motionarray.com, artgrid.io, pexels.com, pixabay.com, videvo.net, coverr.co, mixkit.co, videezy.com, soundsnap.com, filmsupply.com), sound effects (epidemicsound.com, soundbible.com, bensound.com, reverb.com, wavo.me, acoustica.com, prosoundeffects.com, stonewashed.net, samplephonics.com, gameburp.com), templates (envatoelements.com, renderhub.com, aejuice.com, creatopy.com, canva.com, flexclip.com, videobolt.net, visme.com, animoto.com, pitch.com) and LUTs and gradients (hueandcrye.com, presets.io, lutgallery.com, gradientlut.com, lutmarketplace.com, filmpack.store, filmassets.store, digitalfilmtools.com, cinegrading.com, cinemaspice.net).
The stock footage card is solid: Motion Array, Artgrid, Pexels, Pixabay, Videvo (now part of Freepik), Coverr, Mixkit, Videezy and Filmsupply are all real footage sources, with Soundsnap misfiled since it is a sound library. After that the list falls apart in a way that looks machine-generated. On the sound effects card, Reverb.com is a used music-gear marketplace, Wavo.me is a music-marketing analytics tool, Acoustica.com sells the Mixcraft DAW, Stonewashed.net is a promo page for a film, Samplephonics sells music sample packs and Gameburp.com is a HostGator 'coming soon' placeholder. Only Epidemic Sound, SoundBible, Bensound and Pro Sound Effects belong there. On templates, envatoelements.com is not Envato's site (the real one is elements.envato.com) and RenderHub sells 3D models, though the other eight are real template or design tools. The LUTs card is the worst: gradientlut.com, lutmarketplace.com, filmpack.store and filmassets.store have no DNS record at all, hueandcrye.com does not load, and LUT Gallery is a Mac app for organizing LUTs you already own, not a LUT store. Presets.io, Cinegrading and Digital Film Tools (now Boris FX) are real. Net: roughly 23 of 40 entries are correct and correctly categorized. 'Just follow and screenshot' tells you what this is: a follow-farm post built from a list nobody checked.
What holds up
- Reel read frame by frame: 'YOU'RE NOT A BAD VIDEO EDITOR, JUST FOLLOW & SCREENSHOT' over stock b-roll of a man at an edit bay, then four gold 'Top 10 websites' cards (Stock Footage, Sound Effects, Templates, LUTs & Gradient). No voice; audio is music only.
- All 40 domains checked by HTTP and DNS on Oct 2, 2026: gradientlut.com, lutmarketplace.com, filmpack.store and filmassets.store return no DNS record; hueandcrye.com and envatoelements.com resolve but do not serve a site; gameburp.com serves a HostGator 'Coming Soon' WordPress placeholder.
- Live sites read Oct 2, 2026: wavo.me describes itself as 'Advanced Analytics for Music Professionals'; acoustica.com sells the Mixcraft DAW; stonewashed.net is a film's promo site (cast, trailer, storyboards); samplephonics.com sells sample packs and synth presets; renderhub.com sells 3D models and textures; lutgallery.com sells a macOS LUT-organizer app and 'does not sell LUTs themselves'; presets.io and cinegrading.com do sell LUTs; digitalfilmtools.com redirects to borisfx.com; creatopy.com redirects to thebrief.ai; videvo.net redirects to freepik.com/videos.
- Motion Array, Artgrid, Pexels, Pixabay, Canva, Animoto and Reverb returned 403 to automated fetches (bot protection), which is normal for live commercial sites; Reverb is a musical-instrument marketplace, not a sound-effects library.
- Poster could not be sized (Facebook profile page did not render to the fetcher); treated as a small account per brief.
What doesn’t
- 17 of 40 entries are dead, nonexistent or in the wrong category, concentrated on the Sound Effects and LUTs cards.
- 'Just follow and screenshot' is a follow-farm hook; the value is the list, and the list was not checked.
- Paid and free sites are mixed with no labels; Motion Array, Artgrid, Epidemic Sound, Envato Elements and Filmsupply are subscription or licensed products.
- Four never-registered .com and .store domains are a tell for a generated list, not a working editor's bookmarks.
The catch
Screenshot the stock footage card and the top four sound-effects entries and throw the rest away. Anyone who tells you they need a 'LUT marketplace' from this list will be typing a domain that does not exist.
How to actually do it
- Free footage: Pexels, Pixabay, Mixkit, Coverr and Videezy. Paid when a client's brand needs it: Artgrid, Motion Array or Filmsupply, and read the license page before you download.
- Sound effects: Mixkit and Pixabay for free, Epidemic Sound or Pro Sound Effects for licensed libraries; Freesound.org for raw practical sounds.
- Templates: Envato Elements at elements.envato.com (not the domain on the card), Motion Array, Canva and CapCut's built-in library cover almost every short-form need.
- LUTs: start with the free LUTs shipped inside DaVinci Resolve and Premiere; if you buy, buy from a working site like presets.io or a creator you follow, and test on your own footage before paying.
The stock footage card is useful and about half the rest holds up. The sound-effects and LUTs cards include gear marketplaces, a DAW vendor, a film promo page, a parked domain and four domains that were never registered. It reads like an unchecked generated list used to farm follows.
