REAL
Holds up: Dan Martell's 'AI tools for every task (September 2026)' names real, current products for each job; it is one coach's picks, with 'Perplexity for building a website' the weakest match
The claim'These are the best AI tools for every task today.' Building a website: Perplexity. Business ideas: Grok. Creating ads: Higgsfield. Help me study: NotebookLM. Build my first app: Claude Code ('the most approachable'). Find out what's trending: Grok. Content strategy: ChatGPT Astra. Presentations: Claude Design. Research: Gemini. Turning written notes into a plan: ChatGPT.
This is a list of opinions, not a claim of fact, and the opinions point at real products that exist today. Checked against vendor pages: Claude Design is live and included on all paid Claude plans, handles presentations and exports to PowerPoint; Claude Code is Anthropic's coding agent and is included in Pro and Max; Higgsfield is an AI creative suite with ad, UGC and video tools and an MCP hookup to Claude and ChatGPT; NotebookLM is Google's source-grounded study tool; Gemini and Grok are the Google and xAI assistants; and GPT-6 Astra is OpenAI's current top model (x-ref #306). Nothing on the card is vaporware. Where the list is soft: 'building a website' with Perplexity is an odd pairing. Perplexity launched an agent product called Perplexity Computer in February 2026 that can take multi-step actions, but it is an answer engine at heart, and most people building a site today would reach for Claude Code, Vercel's v0, Lovable or a site builder. 'Grok' for trending is defensible because of its X firehose; 'Grok for business ideas' is taste. The reel has no hook, no link and no product to buy, which is unusual for this genre. Martell's business is coaching and courses, so the reel is brand content that keeps him in your feed; it does not pitch anything here. Treat it as a reasonable starting menu, not a ranking.
What holds up
- Reel read frame by frame: a 'AI Tools for every task (September 2026)' card with logo tiles for Grok, NotebookLM, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini; the audio lists Perplexity, Higgsfield, ChatGPT Astra and Claude Design for the other slots.
- claude.com/product/design read: Claude Design is 'included in all paid plans,' builds visual designs including presentations, exports to PowerPoint; Claude Code is included in Pro and Max per code.claude.com docs.
- higgsfield.ai read: 'AI-native creative suite' with AI influencer, Cinema Studio, ad and UGC tools, 30+ models and MCP integration with Claude and ChatGPT; GPT-6 Astra is OpenAI's current flagship (x-ref #306, shipped Sep 3, 2026).
- Perplexity Computer launched February 2026 as a general-purpose agent; building websites is not its headline use, so that pairing is the list's weakest. No hook or product link in the reel.
What doesn’t
- 'Best' is personal preference; no criteria, no comparison, no pricing.
- 'Perplexity for building a website' is a stretch; agentic coding tools do that job better.
- Brand-building content from a coach whose business is courses and coaching, even though this reel sells nothing directly.
The catch
The list is a fine shortcut if you have never opened these tools, but every slot has two or three equally good answers and the right one depends on what you already pay for. Pick by the subscription you have, not by the card.
How to actually do it
- Inventory what you already subscribe to (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Grok) and route each task to that tool first; most of these jobs are done well by any of the big four.
- For the two specialist slots, try NotebookLM free for study and Claude Design (on any paid Claude plan) for a deck, before adding a new subscription.
- For a website, skip the Perplexity suggestion: use Claude Code or a site builder, and give it a real brief with pages, copy and brand colors.
Every product named is real and current, and the pairings are mostly sensible. It is a preference list from a public-figure coach with no hook attached; only the Perplexity-for-websites pick is a poor fit.
