BS
BS as pitched: Claude alone will not generate and animate cinematic scenes in two days; it writes scripts and prompts, and the '7-Day Claude Filmmaking Challenge' is a course ad
The claim'We are looking for people who want to master Claude for AI filmmaking... the 7-Day Claude Filmmaking Challenge. 15 focused minutes a day. No camera, no editing experience. Just Claude... In two days, you'll generate your first cinematic scene and animate it from single prompt. In four days, you'll have a full AI video with voice, characters, and sound... In seven days, you'll have a Claude Filmmaker Certificate.' Small print: independent educational platform, not affiliated with mentioned brands, results not guaranteed, AI-generated imagery.
AI filmmaking is real, but not the way this ad sells it. Claude is a text model: it can write a script, a shot list, character descriptions and detailed prompts, and it can help plan an edit. It does not render video, animate a scene or produce voice and sound. Those come from separate tools such as Veo, Kling, Runway, Sora or ElevenLabs, most of them paid. So 'just Claude' generating and animating a cinematic scene from a single prompt is false as stated. The four-day 'full AI video with voice and characters' is doable for a short clip if you also learn and pay for those other tools. The 'Claude Filmmaker Certificate' is the course's own certificate, not anything from Anthropic, and the ad's own small print says the platform is not affiliated with the brands it names and that the footage is AI-generated imagery.
What holds up
- Reel transcribed in full (faster-whisper large-v3); on-screen small print read: independent educational platform, not affiliated with mentioned brands, results not guaranteed, AI-generated imagery.
- Claude's published capabilities are text, code and image understanding; it has no native video, animation or voice generation.
- The cinematic shots shown are consistent with dedicated video models, which the ad never names.
What doesn’t
- 'Just Claude' credits a text model with video, animation and audio it does not produce.
- The certificate is not from Anthropic.
- Course ad framed as a casting call ('we are looking for people').
The catch
Claude can be the writers' room for an AI film. The camera, animation and voice are other tools, and that is where the cost and the learning curve are.
How to actually do it
- Use Claude for the script, shot list and one detailed prompt per shot.
- Generate clips in a video model you choose (Veo, Kling or Runway all have trials) and voice in a tool like ElevenLabs.
- Cut it together in a free editor (CapCut or DaVinci Resolve); skip paid 'certificates' unless the curriculum names the tools it teaches.
Claude writes the film; separate video and voice tools make it. The 'Claude Filmmaking Challenge' certificate is a course product, not Anthropic's.
