PARTLY

Partly true: Cardboard is a real YC-backed AI video editor that connects to Claude Code and Codex and makes music, but '400 videos in an hour' is unproven and the 'comment EDIT' link is an ambassador promo

Facebook · Oct 2026

The claimOn-screen: 'Guys I'm addicted to editing videos... I have literally edited 400 videos in the last hour.' Steps: 'Copy the video link u want to create', 'open Cardboard', 'connect your Claude or Codex', 'Paste the video link', 'Tell it what u want to copy' (prompt: 'recreate this with my clips'), 'it even makes the music too', 'One month of WINNING videos in minutes', 'Comment EDIT to get the link'. Caption tags #cardboardambassador #cbd57.

Cardboard is real. It is a Y Combinator Winter 2026 company (usecardboard.com now redirects to cardboard.ai) that makes an agentic, browser-based video editor with a Mac app. You give it footage and a goal in plain English and it builds a timeline: cuts, captions, reframing, motion graphics, and, on paid tiers, AI music, stock footage and voice cloning. Its homepage says 'Cardboard can connect to Claude Code and Codex', so the 'connect your Claude or Codex' step is a real integration, though optional; the editor runs on its own credits. Pricing on its site: Lite $8 a month with no generative AI, Starter $29, Creator $59, Pro $175, each with a discounted first month. Where the reel oversells: '400 videos in the last hour' is never shown; we see a handful of short clips built from two WhatsApp video files. 'One month of winning videos in minutes' is a feeling, not a result. The 'recreate this' trick copies someone else's video format from a YouTube link, which is fine for structure but not for their footage, music or words. And the sale is plain in the hashtags: #cardboardambassador plus what looks like a tracking code, #cbd57. 'Comment EDIT for the link' routes viewers to a promo link for a product with a public website.

What holds up

  • Contact sheet read: YouTube Shorts link copied, Cardboard open in Edge with Home, Projects and Asset library, a connection screen mentioning Claude Code and Codex, a chat prompt 'recreate this with my cl[ips]' with two WhatsApp .mp4 files attached, quick-action chips ('Swap background music', 'Add a hook title card'), then a few finished vertical clips.
  • cardboard.ai read directly: agentic video editor, browser plus Mac app, 'Cardboard can connect to Claude Code and Codex', AI music on Starter and above; pricing page lists Lite $8, Starter $29, Creator $59, Pro $175 a month after a discounted first month, with no option to bill generation to your own Claude or Codex plan.
  • YC company page and Launch HN confirm Cardboard (YC W26), founders Saksham Aggarwal and Ishan Sharma; usecardboard.com 301-redirects to cardboard.ai.
  • No public Cardboard ambassador or affiliate program page was found in search; the #cardboardambassador and #cbd57 tags are the only disclosure, and the reel itself carries no paid-partnership label in the frames read.
  • x-ref #338 and #424: same 'paste a YouTube link and an AI connector does the rest' format, there with an income claim.

What doesn’t

  • '400 videos in the last hour' is unshown and unverifiable; the screen shows a few short clips from two source files.
  • Comment-EDIT hook plus #cardboardambassador: a promoted link for a product one search away.
  • 'Recreate this' from someone else's YouTube video invites copying their footage, music or script, which you do not own.

The catch

The editor, the Claude Code and Codex connection, and the AI music are real. The volume claim is a hook, generative features cost credits on a $29 to $175 plan, and the creator is a tagged ambassador.

How to actually do it

  • Go to cardboard.ai directly and start on the cheapest plan that includes what you need (Starter for AI music); skip the comment funnel.
  • Upload your own footage, describe the format you want in plain words (hook, length, caption style, music mood), and use a reference video only for structure, never its clips, audio or script.
  • Review every cut before posting, and if you also use Claude Code or Codex, connect them from Cardboard's settings so your agent can batch variants of one project.

Cardboard (YC W26) is a real paid AI video editor that can work with Claude Code and Codex and generate music. The '400 videos in an hour' line is unproven, and the reel is ambassador marketing with a comment-for-link hook.
