PARTLY
Partly true: an AI agent can ask ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Claude about a local business and turn the answers into an AI-visibility report, but the 'free skill' behind the ad could not be verified
The claim'I gave an AI agent a prospect's business name and a town, and walked away. It asked ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Claude the questions that business's customers actually ask. It wrote down every business they named. Every site they cited. Whether my prospect showed up at all. Then it built the report. With my logo on it.' 'The skill is free. Install it in Claude and run it on any local business.'
The method is real and genuinely useful; it is the same kind of AI-visibility check good agencies now run for clients. An agent can generate the questions a local customer would ask, put them to several AI assistants, record which businesses and sources come back, and summarize whether a given business appears, and Claude skills can package that as a repeatable report. The caveats are practical. Querying ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Mode automatically needs API access or browser automation for each, which costs money or runs into rate limits and terms; AI answers vary by run, location and account, so a single pass is a snapshot, not a ranking; and the advertised skill could not be independently verified, including whether it is free. The post is a sponsored lead magnet for an agency-coaching business. Done carefully, it is one of the most effective conversation-starters a local marketing firm has right now.
What holds up
- Post read in full in Todd's logged-in browser; it is an ad with a link to the advertiser's site.
- Multi-assistant 'is this business mentioned' checks are an established AI-visibility practice; Claude skills can bundle the prompts, steps and report template.
- No independent listing or documentation of the advertised skill was found in search.
What doesn’t
- Sponsored lead magnet; the skill itself was not verified.
- Automated queries to other assistants need their APIs or browser automation and can cost money or break terms.
- AI answers change run to run; one report is a snapshot.
The catch
The report is a strong door-opener, but treat it as a snapshot, run each question several times, and do not present it as a ranking. Check what any free skill asks for before installing it.
How to actually do it
- Write 10 real customer questions for the business and town.
- Ask each assistant manually or through official APIs, three times each, and log every business and source named.
- Summarize appearances and cited sources in a one-page dated report, and repeat monthly to show the trend.
The AI-visibility report method is real and valuable; the specific free skill in the ad could not be verified.
