Straight BS: no AI study found that tides come from magnetic poles in Earth's core instead of the Moon; tides are driven by the gravity of the Moon and Sun

Facebook · Oct 2026

The claim'Scientists admitted last week that they've been wrong this whole time about moons affecting tides.' Using an 'artificial AI intelligence layer' (animated lines over beach footage) they found tides come 'from magnet poles deep inside the core of the earth' pulling on particles in seawater, 'one of those moments' like learning the universe does not revolve around Earth.

There is no such study, no such admission, and the physics does not work. Tides are long waves driven by the gravitational pull of the Moon and, to a lesser degree, the Sun; NOAA's Ocean Service explains this, and tide tables worldwide are computed from lunar and solar positions far in advance with high accuracy. A magnetic source in the core could not produce that rhythm: Earth's magnetic field barely changes over a day, so it cannot make two high tides roughly every 24 hours and 50 minutes in step with the Moon. Seawater's dissolved salts are not magnetic in any way that would lift an ocean. The nearest real science runs the other way: a CNRS study proposed that the Moon's tidal pull on Earth may help sustain the magnetic field, which is the Moon affecting the core, not the core replacing the Moon. The reel's own wording gives it away: 'artificial AI intelligence layer', 'tide patternages', 'ocean water top', 'magnetism gravity'. The 'AI layer' is decorative motion graphics over beach footage. We could not confirm the page labels itself satire, and the deadpan delivery reads like a parody of science-news clips, but 122k people saw it with no label, and the comments are where these claims spread as fact. Nothing is being sold; it is engagement content.

What holds up

  • Reel read frame by frame: a man talks to camera over grayscale beach footage with yellow and white animated arcs and labels; no study, journal, institution or scientist is named or shown anywhere.
  • NOAA Ocean Service: tides are 'very long-period waves that move through the ocean in response to forces exerted by the moon and sun'; local geography sets timing and height.
  • Web searches for any 2026 study or AI analysis attributing ocean tides to Earth's core magnetism returned nothing; the only related research (CNRS) argues the Moon's tides may help power Earth's magnetic field.
  • No public reporting confirms the page as a labeled satire account; the caption is one word ('Tides') with no disclaimer.

What doesn’t

  • 'Scientists admitted' with no names, journal or date is the standard shape of a fabricated science claim.
  • Garbled jargon ('artificial AI intelligence layer', 'magnetism gravity') signals parody or nonsense, but it is posted with no satire label.
  • Motion-graphic overlays are dressed up as AI analysis; decoration is not data.

The catch

Adding 'AI' to a claim does not make it evidence. A real overturn of tidal physics would come with a named paper and would break every tide table on Earth, which still predict the Moon's tides to the minute.

How to actually do it

  • When a reel says 'scientists admitted', search the claim plus 'study' and look for a named journal paper; no paper means no finding.
  • Check the free NOAA tide predictions for any coast (https://tidesandcurrents.noaa.gov/) against the Moon's position; the match is the whole argument.
  • If you want an AI to analyze tides for real, give it NOAA's published water-level data and ask it to fit the lunar (M2) and solar (S2) tidal constituents; it will find the Moon.

No study, no admission and no mechanism: magnetism from the core cannot drive a twice-daily tide locked to the Moon. The clip reads like deadpan parody but carries no label, so it spreads as fact.
