We traced the funnel to its landing page and ‘instant access’ means ‘instant checkout’: the 39-prototype pack is a paid product — $39 list, $19.90 ‘launch price,’ delivered by email after card payment. The post’s gift framing fails on contact, and the page has since drifted to ‘42 files’ with ‘2 new templates every week’ — a content treadmill, not a vault of client deliverables. The $7K-per-project claim has zero corroboration: the sales page itself shows no clients, no testimonials, no portfolio, and makes no income claims — the number exists only in the ad. ‘Running on Figma’s free plan’ is trivially true of any shared Figma file. And the product category’s market price hovers near zero: Figma Community and freebie aggregators carry thousands of dark futuristic UI kits for nothing. Selling $20 template packs by implying they’re the secret behind $7K invoices is the design-world MRR pitch.
What holds up
- The Figma files appear to exist — there is a real landing page with real previews and a real checkout
- ‘Runs on Figma’s free plan’ is true — of every shared Figma file ever
- Dark sci-fi UI kits are a real, popular template genre
What doesn't
- 'Never' is unsupportable — current Claude produces coherent, sometimes distinctive visual design today; the gap is context, not capability
- The slick site used to 'prove' human superiority is exactly what AI produces unassisted — and viewers can't verify it wasn't AI-assisted
- Soft self-interest: it's authority content from a designer whose livelihood the claim defends
- The build-vs-design binary is already stale — the real 2026 split is AI defaults vs human-directed AI output, and the winners use both
The catch
No template pack has ever been the reason a designer charged $7K. The invoice story exists to make a $20 tripwire feel like a shortcut to a career.
How to actually do it
- Browse Figma Community first — the same genre of kit is free in quantity
- If you buy templates, buy them as templates ($20 of starting points), never as a business model
- Designers who charge $7K sell process, taste, and outcomes — build a portfolio of real shipped work, not a folder of purchased mockups
