BS "Claude can build this, but it's never gonna design this" — a fair point wearing an unfair word: 'never' Facebook · Aug 12, 2026

The claim“I charge my clients $14,630 per video edit…” thanks to two ‘AutoEdit’ AI plugins for Premiere Pro. “Comment ‘SUITE’ to get these 2x AutoEdit AI plugins.”

We went looking for $14,630 and found nothing: no pricing guide, no rate card, no invoice standard carries it — and neither do the vendor’s own product and marketing pages, which make zero income claims. Real freelance video-edit project rates run $300–$1,500 typical and $2,500–$7,500 for large multi-deliverable campaign work; $14,630 for one edit is two to ten times the top of the professional range. The oddly-specific figure (not $15K — $14,630) is a known ad-copy trick: fake precision reads like a real invoice. The plugins behind the comment gate are real — Music Video Mode at $179.99 one-time and Creator Mode from $9.99/mo — both sold by the vendor as rough-cut tools you refine by hand. The products are ordinary and affordable, which is exactly why the ad needed an imaginary invoice.

What holds up

  • The two plugins are real, shipping products: AutoEdit Music Video Mode ($179.99 one-time) and Creator Mode ($9.99–$79.99/mo or one-time credit packs)
  • Rough-cut automation genuinely saves editing hours — the vendor’s honest pitch is time savings
  • High-end campaign editing can legitimately reach $2,500–$7,500 per project

What doesn't

  • 'Never' is unsupportable — current Claude produces coherent, sometimes distinctive visual design today; the gap is context, not capability
  • The slick site used to 'prove' human superiority is exactly what AI produces unassisted — and viewers can't verify it wasn't AI-assisted
  • Soft self-interest: it's authority content from a designer whose livelihood the claim defends
  • The build-vs-design binary is already stale — the real 2026 split is AI defaults vs human-directed AI output, and the winners use both

The catch

When the vendor’s own sales pages are more honest than the ad, the ad is the product. The plugins cost under $350 combined; the invoice is fiction.

How to actually do it

  • Price editing work off real market rates ($300–$7,500 by scope) and real client budgets, not a reel’s POV caption
  • If rough-cut speed is your bottleneck, the one-time credit pack is the cheap honest test before any subscription
  • Raise rates by moving up client tiers and deliverable quality — no plugin has ever moved an editor from $500 to $14,630

Real ~$180-and-under plugins, invented invoice — the $14,630 exists only in the ad. See #239, #238, #227.
