BS “POV: you charge clients $10K per video edit” while a plugin edits for you at the gym — the vendor’s own page says it makes rough cuts, and $10K is a whole production budget
The claim“POV: you charge clients $10K per video edit…” — an AI Premiere Pro plugin (AutoEdit Music Video Mode) edits music videos by itself while the creator works out. “Comment ‘Autoedit’ to get the link.”
The plugin is real — and its own product page kills the premise. AutoEdit Music Video Mode ($179.99 one-time) does BPM detection and beat-synced cuts, flags shaky B-roll, and ‘creates the first rough cut’; the vendor says in plain text that it is ‘not a full video editor’ and saves ‘the first 3–4 hours of setup work,’ after which you refine manually. Nothing edits a finished music video while you do pushups. And the invoice math is theater: professional video editing typically bills $1,000–$5,000 per project ($20–$150+/hr), while ENTIRE independent music video productions — shoot, crew, gear, and the edit — run $10,000–$30,000. ‘$10K per edit’ quotes a full production budget as if it were the editing line item. The comment gate is the point: aspiration-bait pricing drives DMs to a ~$180 plugin.
What holds up
- AutoEdit Music Video Mode is a real, shipping Premiere plugin — beat-synced rough cuts in three cut styles, B-roll quality flagging, one-click VFX
- Rough-cut automation genuinely saves the first hours of assembly on a music-video edit
- $10K is a real number somewhere — as the budget of an entire low-to-mid indie music video production
What doesn’t
- The vendor’s own page contradicts the reel: ‘creates the first rough cut,’ ‘not a full video editor,’ refine manually afterward — not unattended editing
- Editing alone typically bills $1,000–$5,000 per project; $10K is the shoot-plus-crew-plus-edit budget
- ‘While you work out’ is the fantasy the vendor’s own FAQ quietly walks back
The catch
Same page, same play as the $14,630 reel: real cheap tool, imaginary premium invoice, comment-gated funnel. The vendor sells hours saved; the ad sells a life.
How to actually do it
- Use the plugin for what the vendor actually promises — the first 3–4 hours of beat-sync assembly — then do the craft that clients actually pay for
- Quote music-video work against real budgets: editing $1K–$5K, full indie productions $10K–$30K
- Judge any ‘tool edits while I’m at the gym’ reel by the vendor’s own FAQ before believing the POV
Real $179.99 rough-cut plugin; the unattended editing and the $10K invoice are the ad. See #240, #238, #227.
